  1. Pretty cool but I would have turned it around.
    As for cutting the lines they are not too hard the recharge they’ll often work with 134a.
    Heck I even once saw someone use propane as a refrigerant but it’s not really advisable.

    After seeing this I think I know what I’m going to do with one of these spare compressors I have on hand.

  4. The lines aren’t long enough to put it that way without the compressor being in the way of the drain on the other end.
